General Practice & Rural Generalist Trainees (Registrars)
Training as a GP or RG is challenging, rewarding, and at times overwhelming. IGPTN exists to walk alongside you through every stage of your registrar journey, offering culturally safe support, practical learning opportunities, and a strong community of peers and mentors who get it.
As a GP/RG Trainee member of IGPTN, you’re part of a national network of Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander doctors committed to supporting each other to thrive in training, exams, and future practice.
What IGPTN Offers GP & RG Trainees
Our programs are designed by mob, for mob, and tailored specifically to the realities of GP and RG training – clinical, cultural and personal.
Workshops
IGPTN’s signature workshops are the heart of our network – bringing Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander GP/RG trainees together for face-to-face connection, education and cultural strengthening. Twice a year, trainees gather with fellows in rotating locations across Australia to build enduring relationships and share knowledge. Each workshop is filled with engaging activities – from medical education sessions, exam preparation and clinical skills development, to yarning circles, networking and cultural experiences.

Clinical Reasoning Study Groups
Build confidence in your clinical thinking alongside other registrars. These facilitated study groups provide a safe, supportive space to work through cases, strengthen reasoning skills, and learn how others approach complex presentations – without judgement.

IGPTN helps you prepare for exams with confidence. You’ll learn from educators and peers who have been there and understand the unique pressures faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander trainees.
